Salutations,

You may well notice the changing scenery around you. The old system didn’t do quite what I wanted so I’ve opted to try WordPress. The postings should now have better formatting and it’s easier to embed media files into the pages now.

I’ve also found a decent place online that will host my videos for free. It’s called YouTube and I’ve already uploaded one video to try the service out.

Welcome to Australia’s Autumnal month of March. Please bear with the mess. Hopefully, it should be much easier to update now and keep everything looking nice.

Hi!

Law school has been plenty busy this semester already. I’ve written letters of advice and demand to ficticious clients. I’ve been responsible for dissecting a police interrogation for violations of procedural rights. I’ve been learning about the offer, consideration, intention and acceptance that help form a contract. And I’ve also been learning how the Australian Gov’t can control their state counterparts by showing sufficient connection to any of their powers listed in S 51 of the Australian Constitution.

Memories of Spanish Class

Nadine, in her final semester full of electives, has elected to take Intro Spanish as an elective. It’s been fun to help her study and run through vocabulary tests. She’s doing very well and was top of the class in a recent speaking test! I couldn’t help but fondly remember my 3 years of spanish class back at Hillfield. To my wonderful spanish teacher, Srta. Forcucci, thank you for your patience!

Bedroom

It’s very spacious up here with a large bedroom and a magnificent view of Bond, Mermaid Beach coast and off into the hinterlands.

The wall not visible is a giant closet covered by sliding doors, one of which is a mirror. However, the room owes it sense to myself for picking up that throw rug under the piano. Also, I feel that the Bansai tree adds a nice touch. It was given to my by Nadine for Christmas and has been surviving much longer than my previous kin.

Private Study/Bathroom

The private study is not as spacious as the bedroom. It’s approximately half the size but it has an attached bathroom. A cable outlet was supplied in the room and I was fortunate to purchase a TV off of a friend last semester for $50! Not entirely sure how the system works, but if you’ve got one of those jacks you get free “basic” cable. The major networks are there and it’s good watching at times. Ironically, more studying happens at my desk in the bedroom than in the study.

The bathroom is also quite a treat. I’ve been thoroughly enjoying the natural light that is provided via sun lights. They absorb the light from outside and send it down a fiber optic cable into the bathroom! It’s not nearly as brilliant as the photo makes it out to be. Contained in the bathroom is a personal washer/dryer combination which has been very handy.

Kitchen/Living Room
The living room is kept cool by the tile floors and looks very sophisticated. The kitchen is well stocked with clean appliances and plenty of space for food and dishes. I’ve got no complaints about the second floor except for our patio out back. The furniture certainly ruins the limited appeal that our yard offers. However, I am thankful to even have a back yard.

Varsity Shores has a numerous pools in many flavours: regular,lap, kids, and spa. The grounds are well kept and secure. Many people avail themselves of the amenities on offer including BBQ and small gym facilities. Click below to see many more pictures of interesting things around Varsity Shores!

It’s Australia Day today!

From what I’ve gathered, everyone in Australia stops what they are doing for an entire day and imbibes an alcohol of choice. The day is a national public holiday, but thankfully Bond is a private institution that doesn’t enjoy public holidays! End result: Everyone involved with the institution gets to work instead of drink!

Australia Day, January 26, is the biggest day of celebration in the country and is observed as a public holiday in all states and territories.

On Australia Day we come together as a nation celebrate what’s great about Australia and being Australian. It’s the day to reflect on what we have achieved and what we can be proud of in our great nation.

It’s the day for us to re-commit to making Australia an even better place for the future.

Me first!
My life has finally set on some sort of a routine and work productivity seems to have increased. I am actively playing the piano and am anxious to obtain a MIDI cable to connect the piano and computer together to make music. All else is well.

Injured next..
I visited the Gold Coast Hospital for the first time yesterday. Thankfully I was not patient seeking treatment, but rather taxi co-pilot.

As it turns out, a taller, muscular, friend of mine was rehanging a fallen picture over his bedside. Unbeknownst to him a ceiling fan was spinning furiously, inches behind him. Accidentally, he backed into the fan and received a vicious gash on the back of his head.

He toughed it out for a while but the wooziness persisted. At our persistence we drove him to the hospital for what would become a 6 hour wait.

Side Story: There was an irate man at emergency seeking treatment for an injured wrist and bloody leg. Rumour has it that he was involved in a car accident in some manner and was dragged almost dead from the car. In any event had had been waiting for a long time and had become restless. He started to verbally abuse the nursing staff and threatened to start removing his bandage and bleeding all over the floor if that would move him up the queue. He was safely treated an hour or so later under the watchful eye of hospital security.

Last, certainly not least, Diego!
A large function has been arranged by Diego’s friends in order to celebrate the anniversary of his birth. His presents are estimated to be in the ‘many’ category. I think that this is due to his good character and dashing looks.
